Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of any website, application, game server, or other online service operated by me, RedNeckSnailSpit ("I", "me", "my"), under the rednecksnailspit.co.za domain and its subdomains (collectively, the "Services"). I operate these Services as an individual based in South Africa, not as a registered company.
By accessing or using any of the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
1. What these Services are
The Services are a collection of personal and open-source projects I build and self-host, including but not limited to web applications, game servers, and a shared authentication service (auth.rednecksnailspit.co.za) used to sign in across them. Most of the Services are provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use.
2. Accounts and authentication
Some Services require you to sign in via the shared authentication service, using a third-party provider (such as Discord, Steam, Google, or GitHub) that you already have an account with. I don't operate a separate password system — your ability to sign in depends on your account with that third-party provider remaining in good standing.
You're responsible for keeping your linked third-party accounts secure. I'm not responsible for account access issues caused by a third-party provider (for example, if Discord or Google is unavailable, or if your account with them is suspended).
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services to:
- Break any applicable law;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services, other users' accounts or data, or the infrastructure behind them;
- Disrupt, overload, or interfere with the normal operation of the Services;
- Upload or transmit content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights;
- Use the Services to harm, exploit, or collect data about children in any way.
I reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to any Service, without notice, if I reasonably believe you've breached these Terms.
4. Availability
The Services are provided on a best-effort basis, without any guarantee of uptime, availability, or continued operation. I run this infrastructure personally and may modify, suspend, or discontinue any Service, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice.
5. No warranty
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. I don't warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services — including loss of data, loss of profit, or loss of access to a linked third-party account — even if I've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that can't lawfully be limited or excluded under South African law.
7. Open source software
Some of my software is published under a dual-license model — free for non-profit and personal use, with a separate commercial license required for for-profit use (including offering the software as a hosted service beyond cost price). Full licensing terms for a given project are set out separately; see the Licensing document on this site once published, or the license file included with that project's source code.
8. Changes to these Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. If I make a material change, I'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
